Simon Pitkeathley is a LEAP Board Member, CEO of Euston Town and Camden Town BIDs and CEO of Camden Collective.  Camden Collective has been providing free workspace to local, creative-sector entrepreneurs since 2009, across 17 meanwhile spaces. 

 

Simon is the Mayor's 'Champion for Small Business,' drawing on his extensive knowledge of the issues affecting small and micro businesses, some of which come from having sold a vertically integrated retail company to Sports Direct in 2012.

 

Rebecca Ball

Rebecca has over eight years of agency experience, working with technology brands large and small. Within Edelman she helps lead the UK Emerge team, an international scale up and start up offering. Her specialism is in media strategy, message and narrative development for challenger brands. Rebecca works with founders, entrepreneurs and early stage businesses seeking to establish categories, scale into new markets and take on established industry players. She’s worked across numerous fields including AI, Blockchain, crypto, cybersecurity and fin-tech.

 

Alongside her work with scale-up clients Rebecca works with some of Edelman’s largest global Technology clients such as PayPal, Facebook Messenger and Symantec. This work spans creative campaigns, messaging development, communications and media strategy and bringing the best of Edelman’s integrated communications marketing toolbox to bear.

 

Rebecca is a Philosophy and Literature graduate from the University of Warwick. She was once told her degree was only good for 'being an excellent dinner party guest’. Rebecca is also a premiership rugby player, representing Richmond in the Tyrrells Premier 15s.

Tim is one of the founding partners of Breed Reply, who are an active operational investor dedicated to early stage businesses in the Internet of Things. He leads the bespoke support programme to develop and accelerate the commercialisation of their growing portfolio of over 20 companies.

 

His career started in sales and rapidly moved through to Executive roles covering all aspects of creating and operating a successful business. His key roles have ranged from Business Development Director, CCO and CEO in both corporate organisations and start-ups, with a focus on the Telecoms industry. He spent over 14 years at Vodafone where he was Director of Small Business and Director of Business Development & Wholesale.

 

A thread throughout his career has been creating success through partnerships. In Vodafone Tim created from scratch the wholesale strategy, then executed this taking market share from 0 to 30%+ in less than three years. This success was delivered through the strategic development of major new brands. He has also seen a significant exit to a major operator from one his start-up ventures.

Ellie's experience covers strategy and implementation across brand, marketing and communications. 10 years’ experience predominantly across financial and professional services, and I’ve recently partnered with a consumer brand on their product launch strategy and a data control company on their brand story and messaging.

 

Her passion is for effecting real results through brand strength and effective integrated communications, telling stories with a powerful tone of voice, finding creative ‘surprise and delight’ opportunities and experimenting with the latest technology as a channel and her company has recently been awarded B2B Marketing Strategy of the Year by The Drum.

Merje Shaw

Merje Shaw (pronounced ‘Mer-i-yah’) started her career at Skype in customer support in 2006 when it was a small start-up in Estonia. After four years, inspired by bringing about industry-shifting disruption and seeing first-hand how customer focus can grow and empower an organisation, Merje went on to work for some of London’s leading digital agencies, working on large-scale digital transformation projects for clients such as BT, M&S and the Department for Work and Pensions.

 

In 2012 Merje established Path59 (www.path59.com) as a freelance vehicle, combining her experience in successful start-ups with large corporation consultancy to bring start-up level disruption and agility to traditional industries. The Shoreditch-based company today provides innovation and UX consultancy to large corporations which require help improving their digital presence. Merje prides herself on the personal touch she can offer clients, which include international charity ActionAid, leader in pest control Rentokil Initial, and British conservation organisation The National Trust.

 

Alongside Path59, earlier this year Merje pursued her passion for urban gardening and Scandi-design by founding Scandiscapes (www.scandiscapes.com), the UK’s first dedicated online platform for Scandi design-lovers seeking to reconnect with nature through stylish biophilic décor products.

He is recognized as one of the top 10 influencers by Thompson Reuter’s “Top 30 most influential thought-leaders and thinkers on social media, in risk management, compliance and regtech in the UK” and is in the the top 50 list of Global Experts by Kingston Technology.
